Homicide detectives take over investigation into fatal shooting that left man in his 40s in critical condition

Homicide detectives took over the investigation into a shooting that left a 34-year-old man dead last week, responding to a man in his 40s who was found shot in Brampton Saturday night.

The Canadian victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, according to Metro Toronto Police.

Officers believed the shooting may have happened on Rhodesville Road near Ramsay Street East, but were unable to locate it.

Just before 7 p.m. Saturday night, officers found the man shot in the neck in an alley in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead on scene, police said.

Police don’t believe the shooting is random and are investigating the incident as a homicide.

Homicide detectives have been assisting the injured man and his family and will continue to assist until the investigation is complete, police said.
