Kanye West has paid tribute to his friend and colleague Virgil Abloh with a moving cover of Adele’s “Easy on Me”.

The rapper posted the cover on Instagram, calling Abloh “my vision and muse and soulmate”, before the New York Fashion Week main event.

He added that Abloh would take part in the Met Gala aftershow, alongside other attendees, to show his “overdue” version of the iconic event.

Abloh described his friend as “a very visionary person”.

“It was a great honour for me to share my dream with him,” he added on Instagram.

West, wearing a £100,000 silver skull coat and Versace sunglasses, moved into the 70s retro look style that Abloh has described as “dazzling”.

He referred to Abloh as his “project” and announced his decision to feature the show on the official Instagram page.

Abloh recently described West as “someone who can see through much of the noise in the world and can see the essence and soul of a design project”.

West said on Twitter he chose Abloh to be the “designer of the weekend” because of his “unconditional love and support”.

He also added that he would be teaming up with Abloh to take his “Team Yeezy community to New York Fashion Week […].

West made his first public appearance alongside Abloh at New York Fashion Week in March, following the announcement of the new boss of his team.

Abloh has worked with the rapper since 2013 and West played a starring role in an short film for the designer’s first Paris fashion show in 2017.

The duo were again front row together at New York Fashion Week in September, as West unveiled his Yeezy West collection.

Abloh also briefly worked with A$AP Rocky on his first music video, Love Lies.
